Whole-Home Filtration in Glendale, Sized From Your Water Test

We put a point-of-entry carbon system on your main water line, so chlorine taste, odor and sediment are handled once for the whole house: kitchen, showers, laundry and water heater. We test first, size the tank to your peak flow and spell out upkeep costs before you commit.

How Point-of-Entry Carbon Works and Who It Suits

The system mounts where your main line comes into the house, downstream of the shutoff and ahead of the water heater. Incoming water runs through a sediment prefilter first, then through a bed of carbon media that adsorbs the chlorine or chloramine your utility uses as a disinfectant. Because it treats the supply at the source, the change shows up in the shower, the laundry and the kitchen alike, not at one faucet.

It is the right call when the complaint is taste, odor or grit across the whole house. It is not a softener. Hardness minerals pass straight through a carbon bed, so the chalky film on glass shower doors and faucet bases, a familiar sight across the Valley, will still form. If scale is your main problem, a water softener does that job, and many homes pair the two. For lead or dissolved solids in drinking water, reverse osmosis at the kitchen sink is the better tool.

Planning matters here because a carbon system has a running cost: media or cartridges wear out on a schedule tied to how many gallons you use. We tell you that schedule up front so it goes in your budget, not on a surprise list.

What the Install Includes

A free water test first

We check chlorine or chloramine, hardness and sediment at your tap before suggesting any equipment. The test carries zero obligation.

Sizing to your flow rate

We match tank diameter and media volume to your home's peak demand, so two showers and a washing machine running together do not drop your pressure. An undersized tank both restricts flow and wears out faster.

Sediment prefilter and carbon tank

The prefilter catches sand and pipe scale that would otherwise clog the carbon bed. For chloramine we specify catalytic carbon, which breaks down that compound far better than standard carbon.

Bypass valve and connections

Every system gets a bypass valve so you can service it or shut it out of the loop without cutting water to the house. Unions on both sides make future media changes simple.

Install included with the system

Installation is included with water treatment systems we supply, so the quote you get covers the equipment and the plumbing to put it in.

Signs Your Home Could Use Whole-House Filtration

  • A pool smell in the shower

Hot water releases chlorine as vapor, which is why the bathroom often smells stronger than the kitchen tap. A point-of-entry filter removes it before it reaches the water heater.

  • Dry skin and brittle hair after bathing

Chlorine strips oils from skin and hair. If filtered drinking water already helps, the shower is the next place to address.

  • Grit in aerators and showerheads

Sand or flakes collecting in faucet screens point to sediment moving through your lines. A prefilter stops it at the main.

  • Pitcher filters at every sink

Buying and replacing several small filters adds up. One system on the main line often costs less to run over a few years.

  • You are planning other plumbing work

If you are replacing a water heater or adding a softener, it is cheaper to plumb the filter in during the same visit than to open the line twice.

How the Work Goes on Install Day

  1. 1

    Test and quote by phone

After your free water test, we go over the readings and give you installed system pricing that names the tank, media, prefilter and fittings.

  2. 2

    Pick the location

Most systems go near the main shutoff or, if your home has one, a pre-plumbed loop in the garage. We check for floor space, a level pad and room to swap a cartridge later.

  3. 3

    Partner plumbers do the install

The installs are done by our licensed and insured partner plumbers. They shut off the main, cut in the bypass and unions, and set the tank on a level spot. Floor protection goes down before any pipe is cut.

  4. 4

    Flush, check and walk through

The new carbon bed is flushed until the water runs clear, then we check for leaks and pressure at the fixtures. You get the replacement schedule and a clean work area before we leave.

What Moves the Price

Two things set most of the price: the readings from your water test and the route your main line takes into the house. We price it by phone with each part listed, and we include the expected replacement cost so you can plan for the years after install day.

Carbon grade and media volume
Water treated with chloramine calls for catalytic carbon, a pricier grade than the ordinary type. A bigger household also needs more media in a wider tank to hold flow steady.
Where the main line enters
An accessible loop in the garage is a quicker job than tying into a line behind finished walls or outdoors.
Pipe size and material
A one-inch main needs larger fittings than a three-quarter-inch line, and transitions between copper and PEX add parts.
Pairing with other equipment
Adding a softener or a reverse osmosis unit in the same visit changes the layout and is usually cheaper than two separate trips.

Whole-Home Filtration Questions

Something not covered here? (480) 808-5114

Will a whole-home carbon filter soften my water?

No. Carbon removes chlorine, chloramine, odors and some organic compounds, but not the minerals that cause scale. If your test shows high hardness, we will talk through adding a water softener, which is usually installed upstream of the carbon tank.

Does it remove lead?

A point-of-entry carbon system is not the tool we rely on for lead. Lead usually comes from older fixtures or solder inside the home, after the filter. Reverse osmosis at the kitchen sink is the better choice for drinking and cooking water if lead is a concern.

How often does the media need replacing?

It depends on your gallons per day and the chlorine level, which is why we size from your test. Larger backwashing tanks run much longer between media changes than cartridge housings. We give you an estimated schedule with your quote so the cost is planned.

Will my water pressure drop?

Not if the tank is sized right. When people do lose pressure after an install, the cause is almost always a tank too small for the household's busiest flow or a prefilter cartridge packed with sediment. We size for the heaviest hour of use in your home and show you how to read the gauge on the prefilter housing.

What warranty comes with the install?

The plumbing work carries a 5-year warranty on installation and labor. That covers what our partner plumbers put in, such as the bypass valve, unions and pipe connections. Spent carbon is routine upkeep, which is why it sits on your replacement schedule instead.
